In the early 90's there was a great variety of knives on the market that featured gut hooks. Problem was - most didn't work. Because of this, CJ Buck, the 4th generation Buck to run the company, began to design a gut hook that actually worked in the field. As the name suggests, the Zipper was designed to do just that - work like a zipper when dressing large game in the field.
Its drop point blade is made from the Buck-proven 420HC stainless steel, which delivers supreme edge retention and is finished with Buck's Advanced Edge2x Blade Technology. Offered in your choice of Heritage Walnut DymaLux or checkered black rubber handle, both finished with brass single guard and brass pommel. Sheath included.
More about 420HC steel:This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Using their exclusive heat-treat process and you have a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent strength for wear resistance and durability. You also have a blade that is easy to resharpen. For best performance Buck hardens their 420HC blades to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.
